I won't forget the phone call you placed to me, having read of my work, which was listed for the LNG Litearture prize then. You Introduced yourself as Godswill Akpabio over the phone, and I asked, "The Governor?" Which you responded, "Yes, Your Governor". I can still remember the drama at interplay, when I laughed very loud; a contagious laughter that saw you laughing with me. You laughed harder, when I doubted the call and mentioned names of my friends, whom I thought were playing a fast one at me. I even shouted, "419, come and let's have a Portion of indomie together."
You were humble and kind to explain beyond every reasonable doubt that I was on phone with my Governor. You invited me to the lodge and sat me to dialogue till the next morning. I shook your hands with my head high, that i was meeting my Governor for the first time on the records of ingenuity and creativity. I became more proud and fulfilled, when I understood that it was my Governor that first initiated the call. Many things were told to me that day, you made me understand that your ARTS, I mean, your ARTS of giving is not for anyone to return in same portion to you, hence my not being surprised with the events of things that have unfolded in a couple of months and days. You are a good man Sir.
When I left the lodge that night, you offered me a sweet smile and encouraged me to break higher grounds. Thanks more specially and again, for the surprise of such transport fare. That was a great elixir to greater heights. That was a show of love to a young growing little boy. You became a tool for God to see me blessed incredibly. Thanks for consistently giving many youths wings to fly. Love beget love. You'll receive it in a million fold, Sir. The episodes of the day may seem foolish, but be assured that, if it bothers you, it certainly bothers God, who does not despise givers.
On a day like this therefore, I am wishing you the heartiest of cheers, God's unending favour and peace. Happy Birthday, Your Excellency, the Uncommon Transformer.
