Why do people commit suicide I ones asked myself as I stared into the bright blue sky without an answer. I have come to realize that joyless people are depressed set of people who when they allow their mood to get into them, then all manner of ill feeling flows through and you know what this can lead to. Do you want to be happy the rest of your life and you seem not to know the route to take? Here is the key “Don’t worry, be happy”.
Being happy don’t mean having all the cash in your pocket. It means in every situation, you have to give thanks, just let that inward feeling of joy flow and you would be amazed how your life could be. I was ones a depressed person till I came to learn about the value of joy. I never knew I was killing myself slowly by being unhappy. Thank God I realize it sooner. I can remember the days I had not dime in my pocket, how sad I was. I felt as if the whole world was against me. But now I am a happy person. In any situation I go through now, I see them as temporal.
How did I come out of this terrible situation you may ask? No need holding back, I am going to share them with you and I believe after going through this write-up, God in His infinite mercies will lift you out of the shackle of a joyless life. For a start, what is joy? I know you know it, but realize that you cannot solve any problem of life without knowing the root of it. Even for me to put this down, I have to go look at the meaning of joy again.
Joy! My Longman Active Study Dictionary says that joy is “the feeling of great happiness and pleasure, or something that gives you this feeling”. If joy is the feeling of great happiness and pleasure, then why are we not joyful? You need to understand that not being joyful is the trick of the devil to keep us in bondage. He knows that the only way he can get to you is to make you unhappy. Once he does that, he can hold you and makes your life miserable. The way you can make him useless is to laugh him into confusion. Smile when he seems to make you want to be depress. You know he is subtle. Just laugh him to scorn, never take him serious. Simple!
Another way you can depress the devil is to get the Word attitude. When I say the Word attitude, I mean finding a peace of mind in the Word of God. The Holy Bible I mean. See what the Word of God says in [Psalm 100:1-5 KJV].
“Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”
Note these words joyful, gladness, singing, thanksgiving… All the Lord speaks of us is to be joyful and not to be sad. Whatever we are going through is just temporal. God is preparing the BEST for us. Keep on keeping on! You can only key into the abundance of God’s grace by being joyful. Know that you will be helpless if you’re joyless. If you need or looking for a breakthrough, remember this, that without giving thanks for the little you have, no breakthrough. If you have nothing to be joyful about, be grateful for the air you breathe and sing to Him a new song. It is not just singing that move God but singing with a joyful heart. Sing to Him and see Heaven turn your sorrow into joy. Amen!

Jesus is the root of our joy. In Him we have hope and everlasting life. Before His coming, Prophet Isaiah in the Old Testament, Isaiah [9:6] recorded His birth and gave us a hope for a lifetime of joy. See what Isaiah 9:6 [KJV] says:
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Jesus is our hope for a blissful life. He says in Matt. [11:28], “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” The rest He talks of is to remove all the shames, ill feeling, depression, low esteem, inferiority complex and all others that will make you feel down low in life. He created us for a purpose. And for us to establish His purpose, we need to know that in His image are we created to reign over the earth. We can’t reign and subdue the earth by allowing ourselves to be a tool of a joyless life. I speak that you get the G-factor in any race you are battling with and see you winning with ease. You want to know the G-factor in a race? The G-factor is God’s factor in the race. A Wiseman says that without Christ, we are in crises. Don’t choose to be in crises even though life is a choice. Choose the winning team and be sure to be a winner any day. The word of God is our winning ticket. God for the word and will all your battle in life.
Before I conclude, I need to drown down the benefits of joy. Joy only has advantages. It has no disadvantages. You will be wise to follow one of the advantageous lifestyle which is joy. Here are the benefits of joy to keep your life all day long.

[1]. Joy Grants You Access To The Deep Things Of God. Isa. 12:3 [KJV] says:
“Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.”
Water means the word of God. See Eph. 5:26 [KJV].
“That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.”
Joy will enable you gain access into the deep things of God and the deep things of God is revelation. When you have joy in your heart, God can reveal things to you through the prompting of the Holy Spirit which is one of the fruit of joy. It is joy that will connect you to your salvation. Check the life of men in the Bible who affect their generation and you will trace they lifestyle to joy. King David rejoiced, Joseph too, so do Paul and others. One sure step to your miracle is joy. God is always right.
[2]. Joy Boosts Your Physical Health. See what Prov. 17:22 [KJV] say:
“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”
Stop, pause and think about this statement. What is your conscience interpreting to you? What you feel in there is RIGHT. Do you want to live long? If YES is your answer, then, make joy your everyday habit for a merry heart releases energy into your body system. And lack of joy makes you sick. Know that all the high blood pressure, hypertension and sleepless nights are all as a result of lack of joy in your life. If you want to live long, make joy your daily habit.
[3]. Joy Guarantees Your Liberty. The word of God says in John 8:32 [KJV]:
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
The truth to everything in life is embedded in the word of God. As you study the word, you find liberty to live a free life. A free life is a life of continuous joy. But when joy is not in place, your liberty is not in view. When in challenges, sing songs of joy into your heart and locate the word of God concerning that situation you are going through. If you can do these, God will perfect everything concerning you in that situation. He says ask and I will give. So anything you ask of Him, if you believe, He will make it come to pass. Just ask in the bases of His word. And I see God turn your sorrow into joy.
[4]. Joy Determines Your Increase. II Corith. 9:7 [KJV] say:
“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”
Always give with a joyful heart for the hand of a giver will always be above the hand of the receiver. When you give, give with a joyful heart. Please don’t grudge. Grudging brings sets the path to lack. Know that it is the joy to which you give, that will determine your increase. Also know that anytime you give and grumble, you go under God’s curse. See what Deut 28:47-48 [KJV] says:
“Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee”.
Can you see what God say in his word? Say God forbids. God is a merciful Father, our sins He says He will not count against us ones we realize and makes confession. Say I will never be depressed again in my life. Say I will never let depression take over my sense of reasoning and joy. Depression is a trick of the enemy to keep us away from God’s purpose for our life. Say I reject you spirit of depression. Never be depressed for the moment you are depressed, you come under oppression by Satan.
I know you don’t want to be oppressed nor stay depressed forever. If this is your mindset, know that sorrow and broken heathenness strived in the past and not the future. The future belongs to winners and I know you belong to the future for that is where you will achieve all that you are meant to achieve down here on earth. I know you want to make an impact in life. I know you want your name to be remembered for good. If this is your dream, take the joy antidote for joy, focuses on the future. In your mental realm, create a future picture of joy. See what Eccl. 9:4 [KJV] says:
“For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion”.
You are among the living, so keep hoping on. You know many people expect many things, but few people believe that it will come to pass. You should be among those who believe that your dream will come to pass. Don’t give up on where you are today. If only you can see a beautiful future waiting for you then you will be grateful for being alive now. Paul says in Phil 3:13 [KJV].
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before”.
Please, do this one thing that Paul says …forget those things which are behind… Look towards the future and forget the past. The past is gone and can never be recovered again. Please, don’t dwell in the past, it is gone forever. Those who dwell in the past will never achieve anything. It is the losers that dwell in the past. You are not a loser but an original image of Him that created you – God. It is not how many times you fall that matters, but how many times you are able to stand up and comes out. A knock down is not a knock out. Please, don’t look for those to pity your situation, smile always with a heart full of joy. And please, for you to get the joy attitude, don’t stay around friends or people that will always remind you of your past. Stay off them, they are agent of depression. And you don’t remember the past for evil, whatever you’re passing through, is just temporal. Be joyful, stay in joy and live in joy. For with joy shall you draw water from the well of salvation? Jesus is the joy that you need to live a fulfilled life. I see genuine joy flows through your heart now and forever. This is your turn to shine!
